About Moving Minds

What is the best way to engage autistic children? That is the question addressed by the project Moving Minds, which draws on the knowledge and experience of an animator who believes she has mastered the art of engaging autistic children through stop-motion animation workshops; and a neuroscientist who has spent decades studying the science of engaging attention (including in autism). Press Play Films (PPF) has seen successful outcomes with autistic children who often find it challenging to engage with extra-curricular activities. Here we asked: what is it about producing a stop-motion animation that engages autistic children? More generally, how can cultural sector practitioners design extra-curricular activities to be effective in engaging autistic and neurotypical children alike?  In this film, produced by Lara, we give an overview of the project.
