Sussex Attention Lab
Research Areas
Our lab uses multiple different methodologies, such as behavioural cognitive experiments, EEG, fMRI, and Psychophysics to study one broad area: attention. This includes different sensory modalities such as sight, sound, and smell, as well as individual differences in attention, such as what is seen in ADHD. As such, our focus can be summarised as attention to everything.

Internal Mind Wandering
Why does our attention drift away from the task at hand? Why do we sometimes fail to notice important things?

Multisensory Attention
Our research explores understudied sensory modalities (eg. olfaction) and examines how they fit within prominent theories of attention, such as Load Theory.

Individual Differences
What makes certain people particularly vulnerable to distraction? We research attentional symptoms across different people, including in clinical populations (eg. ADHD).
